Daria Kasatkina beats Emma Raducanu in round one of Ostrava

Another week and another early exit for Emma Raducanu with Daria Kasatkina beating her 7-5 6-4 in round one of Ostrava.

The Russian returned from the break with a win against Raducanu who played a solid match but not enough to beat Kasatkina who has been one of the best players this year. The Russian is a very bad matchup for Raducanu on paper because she battles hard and returns a lot of balls back.

The Brit doesn't appreciate that and she had trouble against it today. Enough trouble to lose the match despite losing two sets that were fairly competitive. Kasatkina took an early 2-0 lead with Raducanu battling back to 2-2. Kasatkina broke her for the 5-4 lead once more but Emma broke back 5-5.

Eventually the Russian ended the madness on the court by finally confirming a break and finishing off the set 7-5. Both were more sturdy on their serve in the second set but eventually, Kasatkina did find another break as Raducanu struggled with breaking her opponent down in rallies.

She finished off 6-4 in the second set.
