Now official: Defending champion Novak Djokovic, world number 3, will also be the top seed at Wimbledon.
Alexander Zverev will not play at Wimbledon after surgery on his ankle injury which will likely keep the new World No.2 out of action until at least the US Open.
Zverev was taking on Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals at Roland Garros and the match was on the verge of entering a second-set tiebreaker. However, during a lengthy baseline exchange, he went over on his right ankle and screamed in pain instantly.
With Daniil Medvedev also out of Wimbledon due to being banned from the tournament alongside fellow Russians and Belarusians, it means Novak Djokovic will be top seed in SW19 as he looks to defend his title despite the rapid fall that will come with no ranking points for the Serbian.
