Alexander Zverev reached his first Grand Slam semifinals as he keeps a great form in Melbourne, defeating Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals.

The youngster from Germany is known as one of the biggest talents of tennis as well as a player that never made it too far at the Grand Slam so far. His maximum was quarterfinal from the 2018, 2019 French Open. However, Alexander Zverev plays stunning tennis in Melbourne this year and he confirmed it also against Stan Wawrinka to reach his first semifinals at the Grand Slam tournament.
After defeating Cecchinato, Gerasimov, Verdasco, and even Rublev without losing a set, Sascha faced the 2014 Australian Open champion, Stan Wawrinka. And the Swiss was the first player to take a set away from Zverev. He managed to win the first set 6-1 in just 26 minutes to gain an advantage in the match.
However, Zverev kept his cool and followed up on a good form from the previous matches. He converted his 2nd breakpoint in the 2nd set to level the score. And broke his opponent's service game twice in the third to earn the lead in the match.
In the 4th set, it looked like Zverev could beat Wawrinka 6-0 when he was leading 4-0 and 40-0 on his service. However, Wawrinka managed to hold his serve but that did not change much. Zverev did not lose his service game anymore and won the 4th set 6-2 to book his semifinal spot in Melbourne. There, he will meet the winner of the match between Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem.
