World No.7
Alexander Zverev is through to the semifinals at the Abierto Mexicano Acapulco, following a walkover victory over eighth seed
Casper Ruud.
The 2019 finalist had an easy round of 16 victory over Laslo Djere, and was slated to face Ruud in an enticing quarterfinal. However, the Norwegian suffered a right wrist injury prior to practice on Thursday, and was unable to compete in his scheduled match.
Zverev will now advance to his second Acapulco semifinal, and is slated to face the winner between Brit Cameron Norrie and German Dominik Koepfer. The second seed holds a 2-0 lead over Norrie, but has never faced Koepfer on the ATP circuit.
