The Chengdu Open is a men’s ATP Tour 250 series tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was a new tournament added to the 2016 ATP World Tour and replaces the ATP Malaysian Open event held in Kuala Lumpur. It takes place at the Sichuan International Tennis Center in Chengdu, China.
The Chengdu Open is one of four ATP Tour stops in China, joining Zhuhai, Beijing, and Shanghai as Chinese hosts during the ATP Tour’s Asian swing. The venue in Chengdu boasts a modern facility with a center court capacity of 6,000, two additional show courts with 2,000 seats each, and a total of 20 hard courts and 12 indoor courts.
The inaugural edition of the Chengdu Open was won by Karen Khachanov, other winners include Bernard Tomic. The last Chengdu Open was held in 2019 and the winner of the men’s singles tournament was Pablo Carreño Busta. He was formerly ranked as the No. 10 player in the world by the ATP.
