Before the days of Swiatek and Sinner getting pelters from Nick Kyrgios, it was Casper Ruud who used to catch strays until their long running feud was quelled and now ironically they have just been on court together during the World Tennis League.

Previously the Aussie had been a harsh critic calling him boring. Kyrgios threw a chair during their heated clash at the Rome Open in 2019 and Ruud said that he deserved a six-month suspension. The Norwegian called him an idiot and crazy.

Kyrgios fired back in what became a point of their heated relationship. "Hey, Casper Ruud, next time you have something to say, I would appreciate you say it to my face. I'm sure you wouldn't run your mouth so much after that. Until then I will continue to rather watch paint dry then watch you play tennis, boring as ----."

Albeit in covering tournaments for broadcasters, he diverted into being a fan. "Ruud going under the radar... how times have turned, I really enjoy watching his tennis. Real talk."

Now they play together in the same team this week. The win also gave them a narrow deficit as Ruud looks to defeat Sumit Nagal and hand the Kites a come behind win. Mirra Andreeva in particular starred as she won 6-1 with Aryna Sabalenka then edged past Jasmine Paolini 6-4.

This was followed with Kyrgios and Ruud hurling them back into it with victory over Nagal and Thompson. From watching paint dry to teaming up, their relationship has seemingly changed. Also was one where Kyrgios handed Ruud a savage beating at the UTS in New York last year in one of his only matches since June 2023. But it won't be Kyrgios attempting to win it. It will be Ruud against Nagal in a tie he will be favoured in.
