Retired tennis greats Andre Agassi and wife Steffi Graf are rarely seen on the tennis courts these days, except during an occasional charity exhibition match. However, the high-profile duo have developed a love for another racket sport, pickleball, although they do have certain stipulations regarding the sport.

Their interest in the sport began during the covid pandemic and has grown ever since. The couple play as often as three times a week, and were featured in ESPN's Pickleball Slam event in February, which they won.

Pickleball provides a lesser chance of sustaining an injury, says Graf

"We like that pickleball is a community driven sport," said Agassi to PEOPLE magazine during the opening of a new resort at The Breakers Palm Beach in Florida. "People who play pickleball improve their game quickly. While all types of sports lovers are playing, the age keeps getting younger."

"Andre still plays tennis, but I don’t much anymore," confessed Graf. "We really liked learning a new sport during the pandemic and meeting new friends through pickleball."

However, the Grand Slam winning couple have one rule regarding pickleball, they have to be on the same team.

"We don’t play each other," said Graf. "We prefer to be on the same side of the court.”

“We really want to grow the game,” added Agassi. “When we are not traveling we practice pickleball a great deal. Since we both play, it’s fun to do together.”
