Ashleigh Barty and Pat Rafter met in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Queensland to show support to healthcare workers.
The pair met on the helipad of the hospital where they create a little tennis court. Barty and Rafter were joined by a few healthcare workers on the roof. By this act, they wanted to say a big thank you to all healthcare workers in Australia and around the globe.
“It was really incredible to come into one of the COVID wards and just to see how it all works and how it’s sectioned off. There were a lot of people and a lot of unsung heroes who are going unnoticed at the moment who are doing a lot of work to keep us safe, keep the community safe and to keep us tracking in the right direction. So it was really special for us to see that today," said Barty.
"The last few months have been a challenging time for everyone. A huge thank you to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and healthcare heroes who have helped keep us safe. A special thanks Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital, especially Trish and Michelle, for letting us visit you this morning. Hitting with 3 Australian legends on a helipad was pretty special. Thanks for joining me Pat," Barty wrote on her Instagram account.
“Being in that environment, it’s pretty tricky. You can’t thank these guys enough for what they’re doing," Rafter said.
