Barty wins WTA Player of the Month for October after Shenzhen triumph

Ashleigh Barty has proved herself throughout this year to be a dominant force at times on the WTA Tour and this has been underlined with the Australian winning her third Player of the Month award for 2019.

This came after capping off her season by winning the WTA Finals in Shenzhen where despite multiple injuries to leading names; she defeated Belinda Bencic and Petra Kvitova; before beating Karolina Pliskova and finally Elina Svitolina to lift the title.
As a result of the victory also she made history where she won $4.42 million, the largest amount of prize money at a single men's or women's tournament to date.
This came after an exceptional season which saw the 23-year old have a WTA leading 56 victories on tour.
