Marie Bouzkvoa played a great tournament in Monterrey recently and she now spoke about her run and future ambitions.

During her run at the Abierto GNP Seguros in Monterrey Bouzkova not only entertained the crowd on the court but also off it. She employed some of her Spanish skills in the final thanking the crowd for their support. Speaking after the match she recalled the speech:
"Maybe they’re making a little fun of me, but it’s ok. I love when I'm able to say something funny to someone in his or her language, to make them laugh. Many times, I’ve spoken Spanish with Sara Sorribes Tormo, and I’ll end up inventing a word because I’m just improvising, or taking an English word and making it sound Spanish!"
With the run, Bouzkova entered the top 50 for the 1st time as well. She also secured her first career victory over a top 20 player when she beat Konta. Speaking about the match she said:
"She’s been feeling her knee, so for me, it was a very mental match because I knew she wasn’t 100% but she’d still be fighting to get through it. When I won, I was really happy and emotional at the end, especially because of how much the crowd had been supporting me. They’re so nice! Looking back now, it’s amazing; growing up, I was watching WTA tournaments, so being in a final myself was really special."
This breakout was looming for quite some time. Early season losses didn't discourage her from fighting and she finally broke out. About the Australia summer tour she said:
"I started really well in Brisbane, making it through qualifying. I had some tough draws but in the end, my goal was to learn from them. I couldn’t win those matches, but I tried to only take positives from them and what I can improve. I think that’s what I did; I kept working hard and it all came together well in Monterrey."
