Djokovic weighs in on disappearance of Peng Shuai: "It's shocking and terrible"

Novak Djokovic has claimed an opening win of his ATP Finals campaign but outside of that, the story of Peng Shuai and trying to find out the whereabouts of the Chinese tennis star has dominated the headlines.

Questions have swirled since she released accusations against an ex vice premier of the Chinese government, Zhang Gaoli which was soon censored and she hasn't been heard from since.

The World No.1 said it was 'shocking' and hopes to see her found as she is someone he has seen on the tour in recent years with the WTA receiving reassurances she is safe despite not directly speaking to her.

"It's shocking and terrible that she's missing," Djokovic said of the former world number 14.

"More so that it's someone I have seen on the tour quite a few times in the previous years. I hope she will be found."
