Great to see Simona eligible to play again. Don’t let Patrick anywhere near your drinks on your return!
Simona Halep was finally allowed to return to tennis after a successful appeal of her doping ban. Halep had initially been found guilty of testing positive for Roxadustat at the US Open in 2022, receiving a four-year ban.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that there was "no significant fault or negligence" made by the Romanian and she could make an immediate return to the sport.
A lot of the criticism during Halep's time away from the sport was directed towards her coach at the time Patrick Mouratoglou, after he admitted that the Roxadustat substance found in her body was the result of a contaminated supplement he recommended to her.
Former World No. 33 John Millman appeared to take a dig at the Frenchman in a post on X, saying: "Great to see Simona eligible to play again. Don’t let Patrick anywhere near your drinks on your return!"
Millman recently retired from tennis after the Australian Open. The 34-year-old won 12 times on the Challenger Tour and reached the quarter-finals of the US Open in 2018.
