Roger Federer as one of the most prominent tennis players of all time will have seen mostly the highs but also some lows and it comes with the territory of being away from home for extended periods of time, that loneliness and mental health can become an issue.
Federer spoke recently about it quite openly and said that the importance of mental health should be thought about more; as well as that in terms of the Coronavirus pandemic, it helps to give a new perspective during lockdown of how we need to support each other.
“We shouldn't forget the players who suffer from mental health problems," said Federer.
"It is important that we do not underestimate the importance of mental health in our sport."
"It isn't easy (to deal with). It is important that we do not underestimate the importance of mental health in our sport. We need to show support to each other. Maybe it's a fresh start that people and the world needs," the former World number 1 added.
