Roger Federer took time out this past week to surprise a health worker from New York who has been helping to battle against the Coronavirus.
Federer surprised Christianne Calderon; who is a nurse practitioner; with ESPN gathering some of the best athletes to give their thanks to her; which included the Swiss legend.
“People think we are superheroes, we the athletes,” he said. “But we think the same about somebody like you Christianne, you are the hero because you actually do save lives, you actually do make that difference.”
“Oh my God!” Calderon said when she saw Federer appear. “I’m shaking.”

The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
