There has always been this perception of Novak Djokovic having an arrogant streak as a person, but Francisco Cerundolo is one player who does not see that in the driven World No.1.
Cerundolo spoke to Clank.media and in quotes translated lauded the humility of the 24-time Grand Slam champion and as someone he would love to sit down and pick the brains of if he got the chance to. The current World No.21 became the Latin American No.1 and picked up his first Grand Slam win in his career in 2023 in a continuation from his breakout 2022.
"He's not arrogant" - Cerundolo full of praise for Djokovic
He also painted the picture of a player who always greets his fellow pros including in his case despite them not knowing each other all that well but also that he knows how you are playing on court.
“He is not arrogant at all. Whenever I see him, he greets me.
I've never sat down to talk to him, but I'd love to. He's not arrogant or denigrates you, none of that. He knows how you're doing and what everyone's results are," said Cerundolo.
As expected as a result, Cerundolo was also quizzed surrounding the GOAT debate and who he think is the best ever and having given high praise to Djokovic, he was of course always going to be the answer.
"In terms of results, yes, it's clear," he said. But this shows it to be more mathematically than potentially perception with some thinking that Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal are based on public opinion.
