With the
Olympic Games set to be held in Paris this year, there will be one less tennis event on the calendar, as the annual
Hopman Cup has been postponed till 2025.
The Hopman Cup is a mixed-gender international tennis event that sees players represent their country as they battle for the title. Conceived in 1989, it was held annually till 2019, when it was replaced by the now defunct ATP Cup. However, it returned to the calendar in 2023, hosted on the outdoor clay courts in Nice, France.
Croatia lifted title at most recent edition
The team of
Borna Coric and
Donna Vekic, who represented Croatia in the men's and women's singles events respectively, triumphed at the 2023 edition. They defeated Switzerland in the final, although the Swiss team did not feature the likes of Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka or Belinda Bencic. Nonetheless, the Croatian duo looked impressive in their victory, and will most likely return as defending champions at next year's edition, which will return in Cote d'Azur, France in 2025.
