The Canadian believes he can play better than he did in the past as he aims to return to his best level.
Milos Raonic said he can play better tennis than he did in the past. Raonic is currently not on his best level as he has suffered many injuries in the past three years. The injuries made him rank outside the top ten in the ATP ranking in August 2017. And he's yet to make his way back.
Raonic started the 2020 season on a good note, reaching the quarterfinal of the Australian Open where he
lost to Novak Djokovic. And the
current world no 32 believes there's more to come from him if he stays injury-free.
"I was happy with the way my game has been progressing and got better and better throughout the Australian Open. I didn’t play much tennis last year, still finding my game but making a positive start of the season. I’m rebuilding; through injuries," Raonic said.
"I have squandered the past three years. I wish things were different but now I have to work my way back up. I feel like my tennis is there and I have to stay healthy and give myself a chance to compete regularly. I think I can play even better than in the past”.
The Canadian has started preparing for the first Masters 1000 events of the season. And he's set to play in New York, Delray Beach and Acapulco to gain more consistency.
“I have many friends in the city and I thought it would be a great opportunity; New York Open seems to be a great event. I think it’s the first time in the last six years that I finished competing at the Australian Open without injuries, ready to continue my training and get ready for the next tournament.
