Jaden Agassi, the son of tennis superstars
Andre Agassi and
Steffi Graf, talked about his desire to pursue baseball as a professional
career.
The 22-year-old is the older son of tennis’ most famous couple.
Jaden was recently quoted in a report where he talked about what it is to be the son of a famous tennis pair. He also explained that he is keen to have a career
in baseball.
"I want to say right around middle school kind of just
people asking me, and it just kind of became more of a reality. That’s kind of
the goal. Agassi is a very tennis last name, of course. The goal is to try to
make it a baseball one,” Agassi said. "[My parents] help me out in so many
ways I couldn’t even name, but they’re a great resource.”
Agassi and Graf remain one of the most famous couples in tennis. They started dating in 1999 and married two years later in 2001. Graf has been regarded as one of the most successful players in the history of women’s tennis in the singles category in the Open era, having won as many as 22 Grand Slam titles.
The 55-year-old finished her illustrious career with 107 titles, which is the third-most in the history
of women’s tennis. Her most successful competition was Wimbledon, where she won the title seven times. Her last major title was the French Open in 1999 when
she defeated Switzerland’s Martina Hingis with a score of 4–6, 7–5, 6–2.
On the other hand, Agassi is also a former world number one
who finished his career with eight Grand Slams. His most successful competition
was the Australian Open, which he won on four occasions. His last major title also came while playing in Melbourne, where he defeated Germany’s Rainer Schuttler in
the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 6-1.
