After the CTS President's Cup, the Czech players compete in another competition as Karolina Pliskova triumphed in the opening match of the Live Score Cup.
A few days ago, Petra Kvitova dominated the CTS President's Cup in which 8 Czech players competed. However, the Czech no. 1, Karolina Pliskova didn't compete in this competition. Now, the best Czech players compete in the Live Score Cup which is in a different format than the previous competition.
While the eight players met in the quarterfinals and competed in a classic draw during the CTS President's Cup, the Live Score Cup is played with a group stage. In the first match of Group A, Karolina Pliskova faced Barbora Strycova. Another member of this group is also Katerina Siniakova.
After Strycova broke Pliskova's first service game and got a 3-1 lead, the higher-ranked Czech dominated the match. World number 3 went on to break her opponent's service game twice to win the first set 7-5. In the second set, Piskova won 26 out of 34 rallies played as well as 6 out of 7 games. After 74 minutes, Pliskova defeated Strycova 7-5, 6-1 to get the first victory of the group stage.

- Having spent weeks and weeks through the years on tour, I can say with confidence that Conchita was (is) one of the very few who realize the surprising level of maturity (and sometimes lack of) which Mirra seems to have developed in such a demanding adult world of Pro-Tennis. While at the same time reminding herself (Conchita, that is) that Mirra is still young and developing mentally and physically. The general public may forget at times, or not at all realize, these modern era young athletes do not have a 'normal' Youth. It's a major sacrifice, among countless sacrifices, these athletes must make. People who blow-off that fact are ignorant and unfair when they blurt out, "They choose fame so they have to put up with the intrusions on their lives". No, they do not.
