John Millman spoke about the war and the bans at Wimbledon in 2022.
Wimbledon's ban in 2022 was one of the most talked-about news in the tennis world. Amid the war in Ukraine, a decision was made to ban Russian and Belarusian players from participating in the tournament, resulting in a penalty where no ranking points were awarded that year.
In recent weeks, it has been reported that the ban will not be repeated this year, and John Millman was asked about Wimbledon's decision in 2022.
“In no way, shape, or form do I, the ATP or WTA condone the abhorrent war in Ukraine. But do I believe that Wimbledon made the wrong decision in banning all players from the two countries involved in the invasion? Most certainly,” said the Aussie tennis player.
John Millman suffered a first-round loss to Serbian player Miomir Kecmanović in the 2022 tournament, and he is currently recovering from an injury that has kept him out of competition since the Challenger de Cherbourg in mid-February.
