Matteo
Berrettini is still struggling with injuries after withdrawing from the 2023
Munich Open.
The Italian
tennis player had a tough year, dropping out of the top-20 rankings due to
injuries. In 2022, he won titles in Stuttgart and Queen's Club and was undefeated
on grass going into
Wimbledon, where he had been a finalist in 2021. However,
he had to withdraw from the tournament due to an injury just before his match
against Christian Garin, a Chilean tennis player.
Since then,
Berrettini's season has been challenging. He had to end his season at the
Tennis Napoli Cup after losing in the final against his compatriot Lorenzo
Musetti. He also missed the Paris Masters. This year, Berrettini has not been
able to regain his top form, losing in the early rounds of the Australian Open,
Indian Wells, and Miami Open.
Although
Berrettini won some matches in Montecarlo, defeating Maxime Cressy and
Francisco Cerundolo, he had to withdraw before the round of 16 due to another
injury. As a result, he is unable to participate in the
BMW Munich Open, where he
was seeded as the fourth seed.
