Opelka leads after first day of UTR Pro Match Series

After seeing the virtual tennis tournament, Virtual Madrid Open, tennis players returned on courts once again at UTR Pro Match Series. Reilly Opelka, Hubert Hurkacz, Tommy Paul and Miomir Kecmanovic fought on the first day of play. The matches are played as best of 3 sets and first to 4 games with a tie-break at 3-3.

Hurkacz faced Paul in the opening match of the tournament. The Polish player was losing already 1-2 in the first set as he lost his service game. From that moment, Hurkacz didn't lose a single game and won the match 4-2, 4-0.

In the 2nd match of the day, Opelka started his journey to the top of the group. After winning the first set against Kecmanovic in tie-break, the American dominated in the 2nd to take a 4-3, 4-0 victory.

In the next match, Opelka met Tommy Paul. The younger of two took the first set in a tie-break. However, Opelka fought back to win the match 3-4, 4-1, 4-0 to top the group.

In the last match of the day, Hubert Hurkacz and Miomir Kecmanovic fought to earn a point into the ranking. Kecmanovic outplayed Hurkacz in 2 sets, 4-3, 4-0.
