As per RTL Germany, Alexander Zverev has had another allegation of reported domestic violence levied against him with a penalty order requested by the mother of his child, Brenda Patea.
Patea has alleged bodily harm against her and has confirmed this penalty order has been requested with Zverev not yet commenting on the matter. The full scale and scope of the allegations are not yet known.
Jannik Schneider, a prominent journalist as well as Adam Addicott were among those to report the news from the RTL piece with the former stating that whether a penalty order will be issued is currently being examined.
He goes on to say that RTL wrote that the application for the issuance of a penalty order shows that the public prosecutor's office sees sufficient suspicion of said offense.
While not a judgment, it is a proposal for a decision by the public prosecutor's office and would spare Zverev a public trial. An appeal can be lodged within two weeks. Until then, it is presumed that Zverev believes he is innocent.
The assault allegations came from Patea with whom Zverev has a daughter with. Her management only said that the order of summary punishment/penalty order has been filed solely on the charge of assault with no further details and comment from Patea.
It is another further storm for Zverev who faced allegations also from his ex-girlfriend, Olga Sharypova. She alleged he attempted to strangle her with a pillow and hit her head against a wall around the time of the US Open in 2020.
But Zverev was absolved by the ATP at least who conducted an investigation between 2021 and early 2023 and said he will not face any further action.
He plays tomorrow against Thiago Monteiro in Bastad having won his opening round against Alex Molcan yesterday.
