The
schedule for the UTS Frankfurt has been unveiled, featuring
Gael Monfils,
Casper Ruud, Christopher Eubanks, and Jan-Lennard Struff.
The
Ultimate Tennis Showdown, organized by Patrick Mouratoglou and Alex Popyrin,
implements unique rules to make the game more exciting and fast-paced for fans.
This event
has been played in various locations around the world, including Los Angeles
earlier this year, where Wu Yibing from China was crowned the tournament
champion after defeating Taylor Fritz in the final.
The
exhibition is structured with eight competitors divided into two groups of four
players each. The top two players from each group advance to the semifinals and
finals, competing against players from the parallel group.
The action
kicks off with Gael Monfils, also known as "La Monf," facing Diego
Schwartzman, affectionately called "El Peque," starting at 4:00 PM in
Frankfurt. Following that, another Frenchman, Benoit Paire, "The
Rebel," will take on world No. 9 Casper Ruud, who goes by "The Ice
Man."
"El
Peque" will return for the next match, this time against world No. 6
Andrey Rublev, also known as "Rublo." Then, it's the duel between
Grigor Dimitrov, referred to as "G-Unit," and the local favorite
Jan-Lennard Struff, known as "The Thunder."
The last
matches of the day feature Monfils playing for the second time, this time
against the North American Christopher Eubanks, "The Rocket." To
conclude the day, local hero Struff will once again take the court, this time
facing Ruud.
In the
first two days of the tournament, all 12 group stage matches are played, which
means each player will have to compete twice in a day, either on Friday or
Saturday. The final phase with semifinals and finals will be held on Sunday.
Saturday’s
action begins with Rublev facing Eubanks, followed by Paire versus Dimitrov.
Eubanks and "El Peque" will also play their final group stage match.
The day will conclude with Paire versus Struff, Dimitrov against Ruud, and
Rublev taking on Monfils to wrap up the tournament.
