The Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego hosts the Easter Bowl, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the United States for the upcoming juniors.
After seeing some footage from the event, the 10-year-old Teodor Davidov became an instant star, playing with a forehand from both wings and drawing tennis coaches and professionals' attention. Instead of hitting a backhand, Teodor hits a forehand from both hands, switching hands during the point and using a more powerful stroke from both wings!
Davidov reached the Easter Bowl quarter-final, beating Ross Johnson, Jordan Lee and Liam Alvarez before falling to Jack Kennedy in the match tie break. Davidov said that Rafael Nadal is his idol and wants to become a professional one day, aware of how hard he has to work to achieve that.
"I don't want to become very popular right away. I want to become a professional. For that, I have to work, work and work again. Training is important, not being popular. My two forehands?
That was because my father wanted to see me play tennis with both hands. He saw that I could hit well with both, so that's how it started. In the first year, I lost a lot and wanted to give up. But I kept going, and here we are," Teodor Davidov said.
