Wozniacki withdraws from Kooyong Classic ahead of final Australian Open

Caroline Wozniacki has withdrawn from her penultimate event of her career in the form of the Kooyong Classic.
Wozniacki was initially part of the event; which is an exhibition which takes place every year before the Australian Open. This year's line-up includes Nick Kyrgios, Maria Sharapova; as well as Stefanos Tsitsipas and Grigor Dimitrov.
Tournament organiser Peter Johnston announced that she will not be involved; he said it is a precautionary measure more than anything.
“She’s pulled up a bit sore after playing in Auckland so as a precaution ahead of the Open she’s decided not to play,” Johnson told reporters.

- If there is some other reason, like exhaustion or self-preservation by not playing in consecutive tourneys, then simply say so. There's no shame in self preservation. Since the WTA obviously does not seriously consider a player's physical and mental stress as they schedule back-to-back majors, it's okay to adhere to such a healthy agenda and admit it. The illness thing is kind of suspect at this point; if only because of the timing pattern.
