WTA Tournament of the Year Awards announced

Indian Wells Open took the honours in the WTA Premier Mandatory category. Dubai Duty Free Championships took the title in the WTA Premier 5 category.

In the WTA Premier and International Category though, they both had ties. The Stuttgart Tennis Grand Prix and St Petersburg Ladies Trophy shared the former, while the leatter saw Acapulco and ASB Classic in Auckland share it.

Tommy Haas, Tournament Director for Indian Wells which was won by Bianca Andreescu reacted to winning the main award for a sixth year running.

“We are truly grateful to the WTA players for voting us Tournament of the Year for the sixth straight year.

"This honour is a testament to the dedication of our entire staff here at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden; who work tirelessly to ensure that the players are comfortable; happy and able to perform at their best during their time in the desert.

We are humbled by this recognition and look forward to welcoming players and fans alike back to Tennis Paradise for another outstanding event in 2020.”
