Tennis power couple of Australia’s
Alex de Minaur and Britain’s
Katie Boulter had a day to remember on Sunday. The two have been dating for a
while and are very public about their relationship.
Things just improved for the couple on Sunday as both
secured ATP and WTA titles. De Mianur lifted the Libema Open after beating
America’s Sebastian Korda in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2,
6-4. On the other hand, Boulter won the
Nottingham Open after
beating Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic in the final with a score of
4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
De Mianur expressed surprise as well in a post on his
official account on the social media platform X — previously known as Twitter —
by writing: “How did that happen again 🤯🤯🤯🤯
@katiecboulter You are a joke!!! #doubletrouble.”
The win would be a great booster for both players, who will hope to continue the momentum in the upcoming third Grand Slam of the year.
Leading up to the final, the 25-year-old defeated some notable opponents without losing a single set. He started his journey from the round of 16, where he got the better of Belgium’s Zizou Bergs in straight sets
with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
In the quarterfinal, De Mianur proved too hot to handle for
Canada’s Milos Raonic as he secured a thumping win in straight sets with a score
of 7-5, 6-2. In the semifinal, the Sydney-born star defeated Ugo Humbert, again in straight sets, with a score of 7-6, 6-3. He will next participate in the
Queen’s Championship, where he will face Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti in the opening
round on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Boulter had a relatively tougher journey to clinch the title. She won three three-set matches and two straight-set matches. She is now set to take part in the Birmingham Classic, where her opening-round opponent will be Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina.
