The 2021 Abierto GNP Seguros in Monterrey will run from March 15th till March 20th featuring a decent field and an overall financial commitment of $235,238.
This event was one of the event that happened in 2020 as the pandemic was not in full swing and the 2021 Abierto GNP Seguros will return in 2021. It will be the 13th edition of the event running from March 15th till March 20th featuring Sloane Stephens as the top seeds. Last year's champion Elina Svitolina elected not attend the event meaning we will see a new champion crowned in Monterrey.
Joining Stephens in the event will be French Open semifinalist Nadia Podoroska, Heather Watson, and Anna Blinkova. All of these players don't have the chance to fight for trophies often so this event will present a great opportunity for either of them to try and win a trophy in preparation for the 2021 Miami Open.
The winner of this event will get $29,200 and 280 WTA points. The runner-up will get a consolation prize of $16,398 and 180 WTA points. The semifinalist will be a reward for their effort with $10,100 and 110 WTA points with the lesser rounds yielding less prize money and points. We will have daily coverage for the event so be sure to check us out.
