The third day at the Bronx Open brought a lot of fun for the visitors. First, they saw 2 comebacks and then 2 matches where the players were forced to retire

The first match of 3rd day in New York between Petkovic and Giorgi started very well for the player who won the last 2 games between these two. Petkovic won the first set 6-3 and was leading 5-4 in the second, but did not even get one match ball.
On the contrary, her opponent turned the second set and won it 7-5. Even in the third set, Petkovic came, to the lead 4-2, but again did not get a matchball and so the match was decided in a tie-break where Giorgi no longer hesitated.
In the second match, Strycova started almost identically to Petkovic, winning the first set 6-3. But then Pera dominated the match, letting the opponent win only 3 more games.
The match between Cornet and Zhu looked a little different than the previous two. Cornet won in the first set tie-break and then in the second set did not give the opponent a chance. She was leading 4-0 40-0 when her opponent decided to give up the match.
The last match was very unusual. Siniakova did not let her opponent win any game. When she led the match 6-0, 3-0, Potapova also decided to retire from the match. Potapova had only 3 game balls in the match and did not convert any of them.
