Janko Tipsarevic has announced that after 'a lot of soul searching' that he will retire from professional tennis after the Davis Cup in Madrid, he revealed on Instagram.
Tipsarevic revealed that the retirement is not immediate due to him already planning to play at the US Open; as well as several tournaments ending it all off in Madrid.
The former World Number Eight at 257 as of writing; he will return to Flushing Meadows where he achieved a personal best Grand Slam record of two consecutive Quarter-Finals in 2011 and 2012.
In every other Grand Slam tournament (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon); he has achieved fourth round appearances and has won 4 career titles.
Injury has seemingly taken it's toll on the Serbian; with him being absent for all of last year and only just returning at the start of this year.
For Janko, being part of the
Davis Cup will be a befitting end with him playing some of his best tennis in the tournament with a record of 34-15 and 7-3 in the doubles.
He was joined by Novak Djokovic for their win in the Davis Cup in 2010,; a player he has enjoyed his best singles wins over ranking wise and also teamed with in one of his last matches in Cincinnati in the doubles.
