Alexis Ohanian blasts Ion Tiriac for Serena Williams comments

The Madrid Mutua Open tournament director Ion Tiriac is not a fan of Serena Williams; we can say that for sure. The Romanian proved that again in an interview with the Romanian site.

The Romanian noticed Serena's age and weight, calling her to retire as soon as possible! Serena's husband Alexis Ohanian stood in his wife's defense, saying that no one gives a damn about what Tiriac has to say and comparing his Major tally with their daughter Olympia. Serena finished the previous season ranked 11th, missing the year-end elite 10 group for the third time in the past four years.

Williams failed to win a Major title for three consecutive seasons for the first time in a career, seeking the elusive 24th Major crown since the Australian Open 2017! Giving birth to a child later that year, Williams kept her focus on Major tournaments ever since, reaching back-to-back finals at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2018 and 2019 but finishing runner-up in all of those.

"At this age and the weight she is now, she does not move as easily as he did 15 years ago. Serena was a sensational player. If she had a little decency, she would retire! From all points of view," Ion Tiriac said.
