Alison Riske-Amritraj, the former world No. 18, announced the birth of her first daughter. Five years ago, Riske-Amritraj dazzled in the main draw of Wimbledon, reaching the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the first time after defeating the then world No. 1, Ashleigh Barty.
This year, the good news comes off the court for Riske-Amritraj, who revealed the birth of her first daughter, Calen Ann Amritraj, on July 5th via her Instagram.
The American explained the unique name of her daughter, which combines the names of two of the most important women in the lives of herself and her husband, Stephen Amritraj. Calen is a blend of Carol and Helen, the mothers of Alison and Stephen.
The three-time WTA level tour champion received congratulations from many of her colleagues, mainly fellow Americans, including Coco Gauff, Emma Navarro, Asia Muhammad, Shelby Rogers, Tracy Austin, Desirae Krawczyk, Monica Puig, Caty McNally, Victoria Golubic, Elizabeth Mandlik, Carol Zhao, and others.
“We hope our little girl will possess the same qualities of the most important ladies in our own life- our mothers, Carol and Helen. We combined the two names and came up with Calen🤍Our mothers also ironically share the same middle name, Ann, so it made that one easy!” she captioned in Instagram. “May she be full of the same grace, love, grit, and strength, (amongst many other wonderful things), as her namesakes.”
