Two-time
Wimbledon quarterfinalist
Madison Keys has finally broken her silence after suffering a devastating injury during her fourth round match at SW19 on Sunday.
The American squared off against recent French Open runner-up
Jasmine Paolini in a match that saw both ladies riding a wave of momentum into the fourth round encounter. With the score tied at a set apiece, Keys was forced to retire at 5-5 in the final set after an awkward landing that ultimately saw her unable to finish the match.
Key reveals hamstring injury
The American took to social media to update fans on her condition, as she was seen leaving Court 1 in tears.
"Unfortunately during the match, I injured my hamstring," wrote Keys on social media. "I'll be getting an MRI soon to see exactly what happened and what the severity of the injury is.
“I have a lot of mixed emotions that my Wimbledon ended like this and really appreciate all the nice messages l've gotten. Time to go home and get better.”
The 29-year old has been having an efficient season in 2024, posting strong results on clay which include a trip to the Madrid Open semifinals. Although Keys did not plan to participate at the upcoming Olympic Games, the American will hope to be ready in time for the US Open swing later this summer.
