Karolina Pliskova put forward a great effort against
Aryna Sabalenka to defeat her and move to the National Bank Open Montreal final.
The Czech player was able to replicate the same result that we saw in Wimbledon with her leaving the court as the victor in a match versus Sabalenka. This time around it was even more convincing showcasing that Pliskova is finally back to the level of tennis that kept her ranked number two for a long time.
After the match Pliskova expressed a lot of emotion saying:
"Amazing feeling to be in another final this year. I think I was super solid today. Just did everything what I was supposed to do to win this match. Played smart. My serve was pretty good, I have to say."
Pliskova was very composed in key moments converting half of the break points she had while not allowing Sabalenka too many chances on her own serve. Asked what worked for her she said:
"I think I just used my brain maybe a bit more. It's not that I would really play amazing tennis here because every day was a bit windy. I keep having completely different opponents, playing super slow to super fast. I kind of accepted maybe it's not going to be the nicest way how I win this match. So I didn't try to go for crazy winners."
