Russia’s tennis star
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova has shared screenshots
of receiving abuse after suffering a defeat in the recently concluded Adelaide
International.
The 32-year-old lost to America’s Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinal
of the event in Adelaide with a score of 6-7, 7-5, 6-4.
Pavlyuchenkova, in a post on her official account on the social
media platform Instagram, shared screenshots of receiving abuse from different
users with a caption: "Never-ending process that we, as tennis players,
face after nearly three-hour battles. Positive vibes only."
The Samara-born will be hoping that her performance in the
first WTA event in 2024 will give her the much-needed platform to perform
better in the upcoming season. In 2023, she appeared in the main draw of the three
Grand Slams. She managed to qualify for the third round or beyond just once.
Her best outing came at the French Open where she was knocked
out after losing the quarterfinal to Karolina Muchova with a score of 7-5, 6-2.
Pavlyuchenkova will begin her Australian Open campaign on Monday with a match
against Croatia’s Donna Vekić.
