Anastasia Potapova proved better than
Marta Kostyuk in a very heated clash at the
Miami Open due to the recent controversy with Potapova.
The Russian wore a Spartak Moscow jersey ahead of her match with Pegula in Indian Wells catching a lot of criticism on social media because of it. Iga Swiatek also spoke out about the situation admitting to being shocked about how she was allowed to do that. Potapova defended herself saying it's not intended as any kind of statement let alone provocation but be sure that Kostyuk noticed.
She's been one of the most vocal critics of Russian players and the war which is tearing apart her country and this one was certainly electric because of that. Potapova though proved better on the court winning both sets comfortably 6-1 6-3. In the end, we saw no handshake or anything like that with both players just packing up and leaving.
