Coco Gauff overcomes complicated matchup with Marino in Miami

Coco Gauff was able to keep her match against Marino in two sets despite some complications in the second set which could have sent this into a 3rd one.

Gauff was the heavy favourite before this match and for the most part, she kind of handled it really well. Not everything was perfect of course but she managed to win in straight sets and that's all you can hope for. The first set opened well for Gauff who took an early lead but she also allowed Marino to battle back and make it even.

Eventually, she got it done 6-4 and it was a set she was supposed to win earlier. She played really well overall but one minor slip allowed Marino a chance to come back. The second set saw Marino play much better as she took an early lead of 2-1 but then gave it right back to Gauff. She broke her opponent once more to take a 3-2 lead but Gauff broke back.

Eventually, Gauff took full control of the match taking a 5-3 lead and after that, she finished it off 6-3. An overall solid performance from Gauff but she can certainly do better.
