Anastasia Potapova wins 2022 Istanbul Cup over Kudermetova

21-year old Anastasia Potapova won her maiden trophy in Istanbul today besting compatriot Veronika Kudermetova 6-3 6-1 in the final.

It's been a stunning week for Potapova who played in her 3rd WTA final today. She took down some amazing opposition en route to the final and she did not stop there. Playing against Kudermetova who largely cruised to the final as well Potapova never looked out of place. She applied pressure from the start and watched her opponent unravel as the match went on.

Potapova plays a very aggressive playstyle that is high-risk, and high-reward. For the most part this week she has been spectacular hitting winners in many matches. Today was more of the same as Kudermetova, an aggressive player herself was unable to do anything to counter it. She wasn't particularly helped by the fact that she did not serve well at all.

Potapova both served well and dominated the rallies. She won 57 % of Kudermetova's first-serve points and 64 % on her 2nd serve. It was a flat out dominant performance by the Russian to win her maiden trophy in Istanbul.
