Iga Switek won the last four events she played at and Patrick McEnroe has no doubts that she is the number one favourite to win the French Open.
Swiatek, ranked at No. 1 in the world, won her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2020 French Open in spectacularly dominant fashion. It was a run more impressive than that of Raducanu considering she defeated strong opposition en route to the trophy. However, she failed to defend her trophy falling to Maria Sakkari in the quarterfinal last year.
Patrick McEnroe was has been thorougly impressed by her taking to Twitter to say:
It’s very hard to envision anyone defeating Iga Swiatek at Roland Garros this year.
She is that goo."
The American might have a point as the Polish player demonstrated a superb level at her first clay even this year winning the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in dominant fashion.
