Bianca Andreescu (No. 176) defeated Linda Noskova (No. 26) and continues in good form at Wimbledon. The Canadian star emerged victorious from a tough match against the young Czech, maintaining a record of 8-3 since her return to the courts after a 10-month absence due to injury.
Despite coming back from a long layoff, Andreescu has shown great form in her few main draw appearances this year, including reaching the final of the s'Hertogenbosch Libema Open and the third round at the French Open.
The first set started perfectly for the former US Open champion, who broke early and then saved a couple of break points against her to take a 3-0 lead. From there, Noskova improved her service games, winning 76% of points on her first serve compared to Andreescu's 79%.
Andreescu took the first set 6-3 with aggressive play, totaling 9 winners and 3 unforced errors, while Noskova managed 7 winners and 8 unforced errors.

In the second set, both players had break opportunities, with each saving several break points against them. However, Andreescu stayed closer to achieving the break, while Noskova saved five break points against her.
Everything came down to the tie-break where the differences were minimal. Andreescu took an early mini-break, had a missed match point on her serve, but eventually sealed the match on Noskova's serve, winning 6-3, 7-6(5). Andreescu will face recent French Open runner-up Jasmine Paolini in the third round, setting up a rematch of their last encounter at Roland Garros.
