After the Canadian withdrew from the Miami tournament in March ending her 10-games winning streak, she played only one competitive match in French Roland Garros. She was forced again to leave the tournament due to an ongoing shoulder injury.
Not being able to play for 3 months, her shoulder seems to be ready for big matches again. Even though the 1st set did not go as planned, she managed to come back in the second and win 3rd decisive set as well.
In the 2nd round, young Canadian will be facing Kasatkina who managed to surprisingly outplay Kerber after losing 6-0 in the first set. If she manages to win her 34th match this season, she will secure a place in the 3rd round against very dangerous Bertens.
