Simona Halep struggles in 2nd round match of the Rogers Cup with Jennifer Brady. Romanian wins in three sets 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(5) after 2 hours and 29 minutes match.
After lifting the trophy in All England Club, 2018 Rogers Cup Champion returned to Toronto for another challenge. In the 2nd round former no.1 faced successful qualifier Brady! Losing the first set, Romanian seemed to have taken over the match when she was already winning 4-0 in the third set.
Match escalated in the third set tie-break after Brady made a comeback winning 5 games in a row after being 0-4 down. Even though Halep seemed to lose the ground under her legs at the end of 3rd, she showed her experience in the tie-break and secured the place in the Last 16. Her opponent in the next round will be the winner of the match between Vekic and Kuznetsova.
The title-defender had massive support from the crowd and match on the centre court definitely fulfilled their expectations as it featured some really unique shots and tension until the very last moment!
