Bianca Andreescu produced a great effort to take down
Danielle Collins 6-1 6-1 in Madrid but the American was really not interested in playing this match.
There is not much to write here as Danielle Collins simply did not want to be at the Manolo Santana stadium today. The American arrived at the venue with very bad body language and it never changed. She did not show her typical fiery emotion, she did not complain or argue with the umpires even after getting called for 3 foot faults. She very rarely tried to switch things up and mostly just pushed the ball outside of the court.
Andreescu did play well and the thrashing is well deserved but she would have had to try really hard to lose this match. It was pretty much impossible. She had more winners, she served much better and had far fewer mistakes which is unusual for her matches. Overall Collins struggled with her serve, with her strokes and with her attitude as well. Andreescu moves on.
