Former World No.1
Angelique Kerber will be making her return to the WTA Tour in 2024, and the German star is set to compete at the
Hamburg European Open in her home nation.
The three-time Grand Slam champion has been on hiatus after revealing her pregnancy in August 2022. Kerber announced she had given birth to her first child, a daughter named Liana in February, 2023 and has been working on returning to the tennis circuit while juggling motherhood.
Kerber to make official return at 2024 United Cup
The 35-year old announced earlier that she would be making her official comeback at the 2024
United Cup in January 2024, where she will compete in singles and mixed doubles alongside compatriot Alexander Zverev. Kerber played her last competitive match at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.
It appears Kerber has other tournaments set on her calendar for the 2024 season, as the German will also be competing at the Hamburg European Open in Germany. The 2016 Olympic silver medalist will want to use the WTA 250 clay court event to have the best possible preparation for the Paris Olympic Games set to begin in July, as the tennis competition will be held on the clay courts used for Roland Garros.
