Anna Blinkova needed to play the qualifiers in order to enter the main draw and she won all of those matches emerging as the championship winner on Sunday.
She took on
Jasmine Paolini, a player that smashed her this year on clay easily and it was very sweet revenge for her. It was a final and her maiden WTA trophy. Three sets were played and Blinkova continued shining as she did all week long.
Superb attacking play from the baseline gave her more than enough to overcome Paolini who is a huge fighter herself. Blinkova just rolled Paolini in the first set 6-2 but the Italian responded in the second set. Paolini won it 6-3 after some poor choices by the Russian.
She did not play too bad but she just rushed in key moments giving the Italian a really easy chance that she converted. She returned back to normal form in the final set smashing Paolini once more 6-2 to lift her maiden trophy.
