Aryna Sabalenka denied
Linda Noskova the fairytale ending in Adelaide as she cruised to her first trophy of the new season with a 6-3 7-6(4).
It's not a shocking result in any way as Sabalenka really did play an amazing week of tennis. So did Noskova but it's been a whirlwind of emotions for her as this is simply not what she's used to. She did show a lot of great promise and this will certainly not be the last time she played in a WTA Final.
Both players struggled with their serves in this one as neither Noskova nor Sabalenka were able to hit it at a high rate. The good thing for Sabalenka is that she avoided too many double faults which is something that plagued Noskova. The second set was much closer than the first set and Noskova did have chances at some point but she simply could not overpower Sabalenka in rallies.
It was a clear mismatch in terms of experience but it will be a great learning curve for the young player. She's making a top 100 debut tomorrow so it's only the beginning.
