Coco Gauff navigated a very tricky week in Auckland the best as she cruised to an easy 6-1 6-1 finish against Rebeka Masarova.
Gauff had to play multiple matches in Auckland indoors with no crowd but she got her wish and played the final outdoors with the crowd in attendance. While she kept it rather short she did not disappoint with her tennis as she had a couple of brilliant moments en route to the 79-minute finish.
Gauff dominated this matchup simply because she knew exactly what to do. Masarova is a player that hits the ball very hard but her game is raw at the moment and can't off much else. Gauff handles that rather easily and showed it once more. She was on every ball sending many back and Masarova was unsure how to approach it.
Things didn't get better as the match went on because Gauff still dominated, she only needed to work a bit harder for points. Overall a great win for the American who wins her first hard court trophy in a while.
