A letter was leaked after being sent to WTA players regarding Tennis Australia's decision that fully vaccinated players won't be required to quarantine or bubble at the
Australian Open.
In the email it says that they wish to keep this confidential until the government makes an official announcement and
Victoria Azarenka took issue with this being leaked.
Ben Rothenberg, a prominent tennis reporter mainly for the New York Times reported the info on his Twitter page to receive a reply from the former two time winner in Australia.
"The fact that this was shared to players confidentially and within 2 hours Ben you are posting this. You clearly haven’t read the email. Unless I missed the point that you are a WTA player now?," she said on Twitter.
Rothenberg replied saying that he only published the info and to blame those who leaked it in the first place to him and other reporters. "Vika, this is my job. If you have an issue with it being leaked to me—and at least one other reporter—blame the leaker(s)."
Before the exchange continued with Azarenka calling info released before it is made official 'clickbait'. "I think we will definitely do that. I always respect the reporters and what you guys do. Without a doubt. However this is not the case here. It’s your duty to report things if they are not reported, but to leak information before it’s officially announced is clickbait."
This news though is bound to please the 32-year-old who is known to be vaccinated and has spoken out at the hell of quarantine during last year's Australian Open which was made worse when she had to isolate following a positive test on her flight.
