It was a quick day at the office for
Victoria Azarenka, who powered past 15th seed
Elina Svitolina in their third round encounter at the
Australian Open.
Azarenka required just 67 minutes to dismiss her opponent, displaying some crisp ball-striking in her 6-0 6-2 victory. The Belarusian was ruthless from the start, attacking Svitolina's serve to obtain the early break and never looking back. Fans were almost stunned into silence when the former World No.1 took the first set in just 25 minutes.
The two-time Grand Slam champion picked up where she left off in the second, before Svitolina finally got on the scoreboard at 1-2. The Ukrainian was able to hold one more service game, before Azarenka peeled off three consecutive games to end the match and advance to the round of 16.
Azarenka dictated play with her powerful groundstrokes, allowing her to keep the pressure on the 15th seed. The Belarusian faces the winner of the clash between Roland Garros champions, as Barbora Krejcikova takes on Jelena Ostapenko.
